Pledging Triangle
It is understood that joining a fraternity is a huge decision. A lifelong
brotherhood should not be entered hastily. That is why we have a Pledging
Semester.
The pledge semester in Triangle is designed to achieve two purposes: to orient our pledges with the traditions, history and operations of Triangle and to develop a relationship between the pledges and the brothers.
The first goal is achieved through weekly Pledge Orientation Meetings. These one hour gatherings are in a classroom setting where the pledges learn about Triangle and what it means to be a brother. This is also where the pledges plan any pledge related activities.
The second goal is slightly less obviously obtained. Developing relationships can be a difficult task, but is the main reason that many people join a fraternity. The networking is a huge advantage later in life. We focus on building these connections through social events, academic support, the Big/Little program, and many other interactions. It can be argued that EVERYTHING Triangle does is designed to help build and refine these relationships.
At the end of the pledge process, the brothers vote on whether each pledge fits in well with the group and would be a positive addition to the fraternity. At that point, an offer of brotherhood is given to all those who at voted in.
